Since 2004, RACH Fund has been raising money for Brain Tumour Cancer Research, in support of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation!

The RACH Fund was created in 2004 by Rachel Anne Cecelia Higgins and her mother, Joanne Higgins; along with their family and many friends.  From its inception, it has embodied the tenacity and enthusiasm of its founders - Rachel who was fighting the battle of her life with brain tumour cancer, and her mother Joanne and their family who fought the battle alongside her every step of the way.

Rachel was not only beautiful and smart, she was also brave and strong.  Her goal with starting the RACH 3 Pitch Tournament (which has been the initial, ongoing, and basis for the RACH Fund fundraising), was to bring together family, friends and community to raise money for brain tumour research, educate those around her of the disease she was battling, help others like herself; while at the same time having fun playing ball and spending the weekend with good friends and family!

As Rachel chose - RACH stands for Rallying Against Cancer Hardcore - while also being the initials in her name!

Sadly for those who loved and knew Rachel, she lost her battle in August 2005 and graduated to Angel status.  However, her legacy has lived on through the RACH Fund Committee of family, friends and community members ~ and her goal to raise money to make a difference for those living with brain tumour cancer continues on.

The RACH Fund will continue the fight in honour of Rachel - and after six annual RACH 3 Pitch Tournaments, along with donations and other monies raised, we know Rachel would be amazed that the Fund has been able to donate over $300,000 to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation's research headed by Dr. Jonathan Irish, Chief of the Department of Surgical Oncology at the University of Health Network, which includes Princess Margaret Hospital.
